Overview of Cumberland County Records

• Cumberland County was created in 1798 from Green County.
• Copies of birth and death certificates from 1911 and later can be obtained from the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics.
lThe Cumberland County courthouse fires in 1826, 1865, and 1933 and many early records were lost.
• The Cumberland County Clerk has some marriage records from 1882 to 1923 and 1927 to the present, probate records starting in 1815, and land records starting in 1799.
• The Cumberland County Clerk Circuit Court has probate records starting in 1968, divorce records, and court records starting in 1820.
