Overview of Columbia County Records

Columbia County was created in 1786 from Albany County.
The New York State Department of Health has copies of birth, marriage, and death records starting in 1880. Individual town or city clerks also have copies of birth, marriage, and death records.
The Columbia County Clerk has marriage records starting in 1908, court records starting in 1825, and land records starting in 1790.
The Columbia County Surrogate Court has probate records starting in 1787.
