Overview of Herkimer County Records

Herkimer County was created in 1791 from Montgomery County.
The New York State Department of Health has copies of birth, marriage, and death records starting in 1880. Individual town or city clerks also have copies of birth, marriage, and death records.
The Herkimer County Clerk has marriage records starting in 1908, divorce records, and land records starting in 1791.
The Herkimer County Surrogate Court has probate records starting in 1792.
