  • 14 Mar 1733/4 Mr. BANGS having informd the Pastor of his non-complying with wt ye chh desired of him respecting his offending Son, the church appointed a Brother . viz : Judah BERRY to inform Dr. BANGS yt the chh direct him to attend ym the next Lords day at ye conclusion of publick worship, yt then ye Pastor may inform and caution him respecting his evills, avove mentioned. On the same week, ye above mentioned Brother made his return to ye Pastor yt Dr BANGS's answer wasyt it was his pleasure not to comply.
  • Accordingly Dr. BANGS did not attend ye Chh on ye next Sabbath as he was directed; However ye Chh concluded, on ye motion mad to ym, to wait sometime, for his triall whether he will yet bethink himself; before they Send a publick formall Admonition to him . this was concluded on, on 31 Mar 1734.
    On 28 Apr 1734 . the chh (having waited till then withuot any good event) voted an Admonition to be sent to him . accordingly the following one was sent ye same Day by Deacon Lincoln; viz:
    Dr. Jonathan BANGS, you having absented yourself from ye publick Worship, in this chh, wheoff you are a child both by birth and baptisme, or Lamb of ye Flock, as Christ expresses it, now for near or quite a year; you having also refused to hear ye Chh, when they sent to you to know ye reason of your so absenting yourself; and after this still expressing further contempt of ye authority of Christ in ye Chh, by insultingly replying, yt it was not your pleasure to comply with an order sent from ye chh to you, to have attened at an appointed time to receive ye Pastors information and cautions then to have been given to you; You also still persisting in the same neglect and contempt, after severall months patience exercised toward you; I doe now, in ye Name and by ye Authority of my Lord and Master, ye exalted Redeemer, and with ye consent of this his chh, solemnly warn and Admonish you, that your venture on no longer in this way of neglecting ye ordinances and contemning ye authority of ye Lord Redeemer in this Chh; least you be Speechless at yt Day, when we must all appear before ye Judgm't Seat of Christ. -- Nathll STONE, Pastor

On 20 Apr 1735 the Chh gave their voice with me, yt our Brother Joshua MARICK Should goe to her with this message, viz : You are directed by ye Pastor with ye consent of ye Brethren to attend ye Chh wheroff you are a child, within 2 or 3 Sabbaths, to receive an Admonition .... according to Gospell rule.
    This message was delivered as ye messinger infored me . but She did not attend as appointed, nor did She give or Send any Reason why She did not. accordingly on 22 Jun 1735 a written Admonition, with ye Consent of ye Brethren, being read in ye Congregation, was appointed to be sent to her by our Brother Eleazer CROSBY.

  • Prince FREEMAN's dau Mary ... made her publick confession, professed subjection to ye new Covenant way to life, submision also to ye government of this Chh, promissed to bring her child in ye nuture and admonition of ye Lord; wherupon She with her child, James were baptized on 8 Jun 1740

  • Respecting our Brother K. WINSLOW, Evidences having been laid before the Chh, yt he had made certain Proposalls before a number of persons; and after some time denyed yt ever he had made any such proposalls; on ye Evidences laid before ym and pondered by ym as to both his proposing, and after that denying, they voted yt according to their judgments, on ye Evidences laid before them, he had denyed the truth and to appearance the known truth, and that with a purpose to deceive. The Chh also having had Evidences laid before ym yt he had publickly said that he had proved Ensign CLARK a lyer by twelve me; the Chh voted that by ye Evidences laid before them he was proved guilty of ye Sensurable Sin of Reviling, according to wt we read in I Cor : 6 . 10 . compared with I Cor : 5 . 11. Consequent on these votes concured by ye Paston on 2 Nov 1740 . K. WINSLOW was publickly laid under Admonition for the above mentioned Scandalus Sin.

  • On Sep 1743 . Sarah ROBBINS on account of testimonies brought in against here as being guilty of ye Sin of lying, was directed by ye Pastor not to come to ye Ordinance of the Lords Supper. She professing to suppose yt She could invalidate the Evidences, had severall weeks allowed her for it, but having not done it; the Evidences were laid before ye Chh, on 16 Oct 1743. Also 2 of ye Brethren were then chosen to goe to the women in Yarmouth who sent their evidences, to inquire of ym whether they doe own and abide by their testimony; which these Brethren Since declare not only yt they doe but yt Matthias BIRGES testifies the Same with ym, only wth ths reserve yt to their best remembrance it was Samll WING with whom ye wager was Said to be laid . this one 30 Oct . was laid before ye Chh, and it was proposed to ym to consider how far this reserve would tend to invalidate their evidences, or whether it would doe it at all.
