ECLIPSES.


There will be but two eclipses this year.


I-An annular eclipse of the Sun on the 11th and 12th of Febru- ary, invisible in this hemisphere; beginning at 10h. 41m., on the evening of the 11th, and ending at 4h. 49m , on the morning of the 12th. This eclipse will be centrical and vertical in the Indian Ocean, near the Isle of Madagascar.


II .- A partial eclipse of the Sun on 7th of August, visible through- out the United States as follows ; beginning 2h. 12m., middle 4h. 48m., end, 7h. 26m.


This eclipse will be central, total and vertical at 18 deg 10m. east of the Sandwich Isles ; consequently it will be noon there. It will be total from the Caribbean Sea to the Gulf of Mexico.


Saturn and Mars bear rule in the eclipse of February the 12th, aud the Sun and Saturn in that of August the 7th; they being the lords thereof.

Worcester Children's Friend Society.


This Society has been organized about one year, and has received a charter from the Legislature. Its object is to " rescue from evil and misery, such children as are deprived of the care of their uatu- ral parents "


Through the liberality of John W. Lincoln, Esq. a comfortable asylum has been provided on Pine Street, where children are re- oeived. Mrs. J. M. Miles, 25 Chestnut St is Superintendent.
