OFFICIALS' SALARIES

The question often arises what is the salary of certain public officials. For the information of the public we reproduce in part a page from the new city directory which gives the salaries of the city officers and the heads of the various depart- ments of the public schools. Many other important facts may be found in the 1917 city directory, which is just off the press.

INTRODUCTION

It has been the aim of the publisher in preparing the 1917 edition of the Glendale-Tropico-Casa Verdugo City Directory to secure an enrollment of the people living within the boundaries of the prescribed territory, as nearly correct as possible. When the fact is taken into consideration that there are on an average twenty-five changes of address per day in the Glendale community, it becomes evident to all that it is impossible to place in the hands of a subscriber a directory that is absolutely correct. The book that is correct the day of going to press will have a number of misstatements when it is completed and placed in the hands of the subscriber a few days later.

Neither time nor expense has been spared in an effort to make the direc- tory a valuable work. Attention is called to the Householders' Department, which gives the names of the streets in alphabetical order and the residential lot numbers consecutively, together with the names of the householders.

The names of young children are listed with the names of the parents, while the names of adult children are listed separately, thus giving the com- plete enrollment by name of all the people in Glendale, Tropico and Casa Verdugo.

The publisher takes this opportunity to thank all persons who assisted in collecting the data contained in this publication.
