M. A. Lesem's Kneipp Sanitarium

F

For the Cure of Acute and Chronic Diseases

2455 - 2467 FIRST STREET, SAN DIEGO, CAL.

T HIS institution is strictly a Kneipp Sanitarium. All treatments are ad- ministered in exact accordance with the precepts of Kneipp himself. Our marvelous success in curing the sick has been achieved through means of long experience, coupled with the knowledge of how to properly admin- ister the various treatments, and by strictly confining ourselves to the Kneipp method of treatment. Numberless sufferers have come to us afflicted with very critical diseases which had been pronounced incurable by others. But with our method of treatment, we have obtained the most astonishing results, restoring them to perfect health. We hold in our possession numerous testimonials sub- stantiating the above statement - testimonials freely tendered to us by the best people in the city and elsewhere.

All sufferers desiring relief, who are not familiar with the Kneipp treat- ment as is practiced by us are requested to call, and we will furnish them convinc- ing proofs that any and all diseases, whether acute or of long standing, will yield to our system of using the Kneipp method of treatment. We charge nothing for consultation. Pamphlets furnished upon request.

Remember, all diseases cured without drugs or operation.

INTRODUCTORY.

We herewith present the seventh volume of our publication of the San Diego City and County Directory, and feel justly proud of our efforts in making this issue as near up-to-date and as accurate as is possible in a publication of this nature, and in a growing city like San Diego, where changes in business and residence are so frequent.

The information was taken by enumerators of long experinece in this line of work, known to be careful in obtaining correct data as to the spelling of names, etc., and more than the usual care has been taken in calling back on all vacant houses and unfinished build- ings to get the names of new arrivals and those who had moved their residence during the canvass.

Between eight and nine hundred such calls were made, result- ing in obtaining many hundreds of new names. Dispatches were also made for all possible changes of business or address as well as for names missing from our previous issue and in this manner re- sults were obtained which we feel will be appreciated by those con- sulting this volume.

Notices asking for changes of address were run repeatedly in the daily papers, and we wish to thank the public for the responses received which have enabled us to give the latest address and thus add so materially to the value of the work.

To have your correct address in the directory insures the prompt delivery of mail by the postoffice department, where letters come addressed, San Diego, but without other designation.

Names that have precisely the same pronounciation and yet spelled very differently, such as Pearce, Peirce and Pierce, may be a page or more apart in the directory, and to assist in finding such we have inserted references from the several spellings which we feel will also be appreciated.

In San Diego proper we have an even five hundred pages of names, and by using a slightly narrower line than last year have 47 names to a page instead of 43 in our last issue.

Allowing for business firms and references it gives us 23,000 names and using the conservative ratio of two as a multiple, we estimate that 46,000 persons reside within our city limits. We prc- fer to keep within conservative figures rather than inflated ones, altho in many cities two and one-half is considered a fair ratio in making directory estimates as to population.

The San Diego Directory is exchanged with all the important cities throughout the United States and Canada, and thus aids in advertising our city to the outside world.

We wish to acknowledge the liberality of our merchants and manufacturers in their patronage of this work and to the general public for courtesies extended our enumerators and solicitors, and our aim will be to keep this publication up to the standard of the best.

San Diego, September 1st, 1909.
