GENERAL INFORMATION.
BOUNDARIES OF CITY WARDS.
WARD NO. 1-Includes that portion of the City situated east of a line running through the centre of Montgomery street, and west of a line run- ning through the centre of Jackson street.
WARD NO. 2-Includes that portion west of said line in Montgomery st., and north of said line in Jackson street.
WARD NO. 3-Includes that portion situated east of a line running thro' the centre of Montgomery street, and between the said line in Jackson street and a line running through the centre of Sacramento street.
WARD NO. 4-Includes that portion situated west of the aforesaid line in Montgomery street, and between said line in Jackson street and a line running through the centre of Clay street.

OFFICE HOURS-April to October, from 7 A. M. to 6 P. M .; October to April, 8 A. M. to 5 P. M. Office closed on the Sabbath, except upon the ar- rival of the mails.
MAILS CLOSE-Daily, at 7 A. M. for San Jose and Santa Clara; daily, at 3 P. M. for Benicia, Sacramento, Marysville, and other offices in the north- ern mines ; daily, at 3 P. M. for Stockton, and other offices in the southern mines. On Mondays, at 7 A. M. for Mission San Jose and Gilroy's ; on Mon- days and Thursdays, at7 A. M. for Monterey, San Juan, &c .; on Wednesdays, at 7 A. M. for Santa Cruz : on Fridays, at 3 P. M. for Antioch.
Mails are made up for the 1st and 16th of each month, for San Luis Obis- po, Santa Barbara, Los Angelos, and San Diego-closing at 10 P. M. of even- ing previous.
ATLANTIC MAILS .- The great mails for Panama, the Atlantic States, and Europe, leave at 7 A. M. on the 1st and 16th of each month-closing at the Post Office at 10 P. M. of the evening previous. All letters for places in Mexico, are now sent to Acapulco-the mail steamers being required to touch only at Monterey, San Diego and Acapulco, on the trip to Panama. Mails are forwarded by every steamer, for Panama, South America, the West In- dies, and Europe.
Letters for Mexican ports, Panama, South America, the West Indies; France and the continent of Europe, must be pre-paid, or they cannot be forwarded.
Mails for Oregon leave regularly, as soon as practicable, after the arrival of the great mails from Panama.
Ship Mails are dispatched twice a month to the Sandwich Islands, and monthly to China and Australia.
