The child who is different in mental and physical char- acteristics from the strong-minded, healthy-bodied boy or girl requires an altogether different type of training, play, exercise, and teaching.

No matter how ideal the home conditions may be, they cannot afford the child the one thing necessary-happy association and play with other children of the same mental age, under the supervision of some one who un- derstands and loves him and brings to his service a fne professional knowledge.

Many years observation of these different children while training them, and later while training teachers for this work in the Public Schools of Philadelphia, have led Miss Cora C. Myers and Miss Gabrielle H. Renshaw to open The Cedars, a home and school for nervous and retarded children, at Ross, Marin County, California.

Miss Myers is a graduate of the widely known Vineland Training School.

This beautiful home, with its acres of park and gardens is open to a limited number of children whose parents appreciate the importance of teaching by trained spec- jalists. The most approved methods for the development and training of children unable to attend the regular schools are available.

Intimate home life, a cultured environment, companionship of children of the same mental age, make this the next best-in many respects-the better place than home.

Close co-operation with the physician in attendance is maintained.
