This Institution was founded in 1851, and In 1852 was incorporated with the privileges of a University. It occupies six large buildings, with extensive shady play-grounds, covered gymnasiums, swimming pond, etc. It possesses a most complete Philosophical Apparatus, and valuable collections of Mineralogy and Geology. It has, also, practical schools of Assaying, Surveying, Telegraphy, Photography and Commercial Business. For the latter a new building| 186x40 has just been finished, that leaves nothing to be desired. Diplomas are given in two departments-the Classical and Scientinc-and Certificates in the Comnhercisl course.
