THE OLD TIME METHODS

CALIGRAPH

K

S PEED! We think of it in terms of the radio, telephone, automobile. What speed the modern typewriter offers. Not so very long ago, poli- cies were written in long hand. Then came the Caligraph, forerunner of the typewriter. To go back to the long hand days, when good and fast penmen were in demand; and policy clerks had to make register entries and write applications (now daily reports). Those were the days when women were unknown in that position. Other differences were that policies were twice as large as at present, and had to be copied in long hand in large registers.
