PREFACE.
In issuing the REGISTER for 1879, the publishers present their thanks to all persons who have furnished information for its pages. From the records in the Office of the Secretary of State, we have taken such statistics as could be found there. In other cases we have referred to Secretaries, Clerks, and other Officers whose authority was most to be relied upon. We have carefully endeavored to avoid errors, and to make the present issue accurate as possible.
The Legislative matter, Jan., 1879, has been made as com- plete as could be, to the time of the work being put in press.
In the list of Attorneys, no names have been inserted but those who are duly authorized by the Courts to practice in the State.
Those who furnish matter for the Register, or desire any changes to be made, are reminded that the printing of the work begins about the 1st of November.
Commissioners for other States should give notice of any additions or changes directly to us, as there is no other means of reference.
