At the close of the last fiscal year, the whole value of the property held by the University amounted to $880,475 ; of which $532,700 was in the form of real estate, library, museum, and apparatus, and the remain- der was in the nature of permanent endowment. The Faculty at present consists of a President, ten Professors and Instructors, a Librarian, and a Curator of the Cabinets. Within the last two years, the scientific col- ections of the University have been very largely increased. The course of study has been expanded, especially in the department of Natural Science, and modified by the extension of the elective system ; and in the fall of 1872 the halls of the University were, for the first time, opened to ladies.

SUMMARY.
THE following Tables are not entirely correct, since the returns from which they were compiled were, in many cases, incomplete. They may, however, serve to show with a considerable degree of accuracy the present occupation of our Alumni, the character and amount of the work which has been done by them, together with the most important facts in their domestic history.
In the first table, each Alumnus is, of course, counted but once. In the second table, each Alumnus is counted under every occupation in which he has been for any considerable time actually engaged. It may be necessary to state further, that under the head of Non-Professional Teachers are counted all those who have simply taught for a short time previous to, or during their preparation for some other profession, and that only those Alumni are classed as authors who have published writings in book form.
The remaining headings will be intelligible without explanation.
