He was a Delegate in the firtt Congrefs figned the glorious act of Independence & many years difplayed fuperior Talents & [Ability


in the National Legiflature.


He was a Member of the general Convention, approved the federal conftitution; and ferved his Country with fidelity & honor in the Houfe of Reprefentatives, and in the Senate of the United States He was a Man of approved Integrity, a cool difcerning Judge, prudent, sagacious Politician a true faithful and firm Patriot He ever adorned the profeffion of Christianity which he made in Youth and diftinguifhed thro Lite for public ufefulnets and died in the profpect of a bleffed Immortality
