Regular meetings of the Board of Educa- tion are held at its office, 21 Center street, on the second and fourth Friday evenings of each month.


Office Hours-Of the Superintendent, from 8.15 to 9.30 o'clock a. m. and 4 to 5 o'clock p. m. on all school days.


Office open from 8.15 to 12.30 o'clock and 2 to 5 o'clock on all school days, and 9 to 11 a. m. on Saturdays.


Admission of pupils-The public schools are free only to children who have a legal and bona fide residence in the district.


The regular time for the admission of pupils into the public schools is at the beginning of the school year in Sep- tember.


The school hours, except in the High Schools, are from 9 a. m. to 12 m. and from 2 to 4 p. m.


Children under 5 years of age will not be admitted, except to the Kinder- gartens. Children between four and six may be admitted to the Kindergar- tens.


Children must be vaccinated before they can be admitted.


Children are not allowed to attend a school outside of the sub-district in which they reside. In case there is no . room in the sub-district in which they reside they may obtain from the Super- intendent of Schools a ticket of admis- sion to another school.


Non-resident pupils may be admitted to schools upon payment of tuition at the office of the Board of Education. The charge for tuition is $60 a year in the High Schools and $30 a year in all schools below the High Schools.


All text-books and other supplies are furnished to the pupils of the district free of charge. Non resident pupils must furnish their own books and sup- plies.


Evening schools are open in October and continue during the winter, and pro- vide instruction to persons over four- teen years of age who do not attend the day schools.


The High schools of the district comprise the Classical, the English and the Sci- entific departments, each with a course of four years; the Commercial depart- ment with a course of three years and the Manual Training Department with a course of four years.


The hours are from 8.25 a. m. to 1 p. m. The examinations for admission to the High Schools are held in June, and candidates must be at least 12 years of age.
