PREFACE.

WE call particular attention to the Census table which for the first time in our history has been published com- plete. It contains the population at the eight decennial enumerations from 1790 to 1860. The Census of the towns of Connecticut for 1790 has never before been pub- lished; and that of 1800 has never appeared except in Congressional documents.

Commissioners for other States should give information of any additions or changes.
