POLK & CO., publishers of more than 850 city, county, state and national Dir tories present to subscribers and the general public, this, the 1958 edition of the Clearwater, Dunedin and Largo City Directory, which also includes Bay- wood Village, Belleair, Clearwater Beach, Dunedin Isles, Harbor Bluffs, High- land Park and Safety Harbor.

Confidence in the growth of the communities' industry, population and wealth, and in the advancement of its civic and social activities, will be maintained as sections of this Directory are consulted, for the Directory is a mirror truly reflecting the communities to the world.

Four Major Departments

The four major departments are arranged in the following order :-

I. THE YELLOW PAGES constitute the first major department of the Direc- tory. This embraces a complete list of the names and addresses of the business and professional concerns of Clearwater, Dunedin and Largo arranged in alpha- betical order under appropriate headings-a catalog of all the activities of the communities. Preceding this catalog, likewise grouped under appropriate head- ings, are the advertisements and business cards of firms and individuals desiring to present a more complete list of their products or services than is possible in the catalog itself. The Yellow Pages represent reference advertising at its best, and merit the attention of all buyers and sellers seeking sources of supply or markets for goods. In progressive communities like Clearwater, Dunedin and Largo, the necessity of having this kind of information up-to-date and always immediately available, is obvious. The Directory is the common intermediary between buyer and seller, and plays an important role in the daily activities of the commercial, industrial and professional world.

II. THE ALPHABETICAL LIST OF NAMES of residents and business and professional concerns is the second major department, printed on white paper. This is the only record in existence that aims to show the name, marital status, occupation and address of each adult resident of Clearwater, Belleair, Clear- water Beach and Safety Harbor, and the name, official personnel, nature and address of each firm and corporation in the communities. Similar lists for Dunedin and Largo appear farther on in the Directory.

III. THE DIRECTORY OF HOUSEFOLDERS, INCLUDING STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE, covering Clearwater, Belleair, Clearwater Beach and Safety Harbor is the third major department, printed on green paper. In this section the numbered streets are arranged in numerical order, followed by the named streets arranged in alphabetical order: the numbers of the residences and busi- ness concerns are arranged in numerical order under the name of each street, and the names of the householders and concerns are placed opposite the numbers. The names of the intersecting streets appear at their respective crossing points on each street. Special features of this section are the designation of tenant- owned homes and the listing of the telephone numbers. Similar lists for Dunedin and Largo appear farther on in the Directory.

IV. THE NUMERICAL TELEPHONE DIRECTORY, on blue paper, is the fourth major department, covering Clearwater, Dunedin and Largo.

For information regarding classifica- tion, postage rates, and mailability of domestic mail of all classes, entry and mailing of publications as second-class matter, metered and permit mail, bulk rate mailings of third-class matter, Business Reply Cards and Envelopes, apply at your local post office.

DOMESTIC POSTAL RATES

First-Class

LETTERS: 3 cents for each ounce or fraction of an ounce. (Local delivery same rate.)

POST CARDS or POSTAL CARDS: 2 cents each within prescribed sizes.

BUSINESS REPLY CARDS: 4 cents.

MAIL ENCLOSED IN BUSINESS REPLY ENVELOPES: 3 cents per ounce, plus 2 cents per piece, col- lected when delivered.

Second-Class

NEWSPAPERS AND PERIODICALS (Transient rate) : 2 cents for the first 2 ounces, and 1 cent for each addi- tional 2 ounces or fourth class rate, whichever is lower.

Third-Class

(Limit 8 ounces)-On circulars and other miscellaneous printed matter, also on merchandise, 2c for the first 2 ounces or fraction, plus 1c for each additional ounce or fraction ..
