Scene at Clearwater Beach
On the mainland, in the City Park, are located excellent facilities for lawn bowling, shuffleboard and 'horseshoe-pitching. Individual clubs have been organized for these games, each having its own clubhouse where card parties and other social activities are participated in by the members and their friends.
Four splendid 18-hole golf courses are l'ocated within a four-mile radius of Clearwater. The 18-hole course of the Clearwater Country Club is one of the sportiest in the country and is open the year around. Those visiting here find this course more popular each season. A magnificent clubhouse, with artistic furnishings and commodious shower and locker rooms for both ladies and gentlemen, is available. The grass greens are large and scientifically designed and located. The fairways are just nar- row enough to be interesting, stretching over rolling territory and natur- al hazards. It is a Herbert Strong layout.
Visitors to Clearwater find a community alive to its possibilities and sparked by an aggressive Chamber of Commerce. The service clubs of the city include Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimist, Pilot and Exchange, each meeting weekly. Veterans' organizations comprise the Turner-Bran- don Post of the American Legion; Clearwater Chapter of Disabled Ameri- can Veterans, Old Fort Harrison Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Clearwater Camp No. 40 of the United Spanish War Veterans, Marine Corps League and Retired Officers Club.
On the cultural side, Clearwater has one of the finest public libraries in Florida, that began 40 years ago with a small collection housed in one room over a downtown bank, and today has 45,000 volumes. The library building on North Osceola Ave. and Sunset Court was presented to the

community by Andrew Carnegie in 1916 and was enlarged in 1938. The library is open each week day from 9 A. M. to 8 P. M. except Wednes- days, when it closes at 5 P. M. in winter months and 12:30 P. M. in sum- mer months. In addition to the excellent library, there is the Clearwater Art Museum, which is located in the Chamber of Commerce Building. This is one of the most active groups in the city. An average of 17 exhi- bits are shown during the winter season, with an approximate attendance of 21,000 visitors.
The above, together with the Tuesday Morning Music Club, Little Theatre, and various women's clubs, afford both visitors and residents, activities with a wide range of interest.
Clearwater and Pinellas County rank second in the state in the pro- duction of grapefruit, and fourth in all other citrus. Some of the finest groves in the land are located just outside the city limits, and Clearwater is the marketing center in the county for this crop.

IN ADDITION to names and addresses, your City Direc- tory contains much detailed information concerning the people of your community. In order to list this information certain symbols and designations have been developed which enable important statistics to be compressed into the smallest possible space. You will receive far greater benefits from your City Directory if you familiarize yourself with the symbols and what they stand for.
In checking credit applications, in conducting direct mail advertising programs, in planning sales campaigns, in build- ing prospect lines, and in scores of other ways your City Directory will prove of invaluable assistance.

Features and Departments of a City Directory
Your new, improved City Directory is the most complete and comprehensive catalog ever published of the inhabit- ants, business concerns and institutions of your city. It is much more than just an alphabetical list of names and addresses.
Your City Directory Contains:
1
An Alphabetical list of names and addresses of every resident, business concern and insti- tution, plus wife's name and if a widow the deceased husband's initial, and the occupa- tions of all. Principal officers or owners and a description of businesses are included as well.
2
A Householders' Directory including a Street and Avenue Guide. This section lists every street and where intersecting streets appear. It lists numerically every location on each street, naming the householder or business at each number and whether the person is a homeowner or renter and if he has a telephone. Similar information is provided on office and public buildings and their occupants.
3
A Classified Business Directory -listing every business, classified as to type, and showing names and addresses. It also lists every pro- fession, club, society and association, hospital and cemetery, labor , organization, library, park and playground and school.
4 A "Yellow Section" or Buyers' Guide, where the advertiser may explain in greater detail the services or products he has to offer.
5 A Statistical and Historical Story of your city; plus miscellaneous other information.
