Tarpon Springs
You are invited to spend your next vacation in Tarpon Springs, whether it be for a few days, a week, the winter season-or better still-to make it your permanent home. In any event, you will find Tarpon Springs a delightful place in which to live.
The Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce will be de- lighted to give specific information, upon request.
Located in the northernmost part of Pinellas County, it has a high elevation, and contains twenty miles of water- frontage within its corporate limits, including picturesque bayous, reaching into the heart of the city. Adding to its beauty, among many tropical trees, shrubs and flowers, are numerous jacaranda trees, which, when in bloom, dot the city with splashes of lavender splendor. It is worth a trip to Tarpon Springs to see them!
Often referred to as "The Venice of the South" because of its similarity to "Old Venice," Tarpon Springs is bounded on the north by the Anclote River, on the east by Lake But- ler and on the west by the Gulf of Mexico.
CLIMATE: Climate conditions the year 'round are un- excelled by any other section, not only of this country, but other countries of the world as well. It is pleasantly warm, with plenty of sunshine during the winter months, while in the summer there is always a cool breeze off the Gulf.

TARPON SPRINGS CITY DIRECTORY (1941)
The Greek Epiphany ceremony, held here annually on Jan. 6, is attended by thousands of persons. The Greek Or- thodox Church, centuries old, with all its beauty of symbol- ism, retains many of its ecclesiastical and church customs and rites, among which is the ever-interesting Epiphany or "Greek Cross" ceremony commemorating the baptism of Christ, the descent of the Holy Spirit and the recovery of the Cross under Constantine.
CURIO STORES: Here are many curio stores selling all kinds of sea curios, sponges of all varieties and sizes, and various other novelties.
COFFEE SHOPS: A tang of the Near East is supplied through the quaint habits and customs of Tarpon Springs' industrious Greek people, and in their coffee shops is found a perpetuation of social and friendly gatherings.
HEALTH SPRINGS: Three miles south, wonder of na- ture, showing a head outlined in lithia rock. Here are also some old crooked oaks, said by many to have been landmarks of the Indians.
RIVER TRIP: A trip up the Anclote River proves de- lightful, for it offers an endless array of semi-tropical beauty. Lake Butler, forming the east boundary of Tarpon Springs, is also a beauty spot and a favorite haven for fish- ing.
SALT-WATER fishing is also a favorite sport here, boats being available for party rental by the day, or for open par- ties.

Please! Do Not Lend Your CITY DIRECTORY IT COSTS YOU MONEY-Every Time It Is Loaned
The practice of lending your City Directory, in a great measure, is re- sponsible for the increasing cost of Directory Service.
The reason is :-
There is a definite cost involved in the making of the DIRECTORY of Your City.
THIS COST MUST BE ABSORBED BY THE SUBSCRIBERS BE THEY ONE-OR BE THEY 1000.
If there were but ONE SUBSCRIBER to the CITY DIRECTORY-THE ONE SUBSCRIBER would of necessity have to absorb THE WHOLE COST. If there were 100 SUBSCRIBERS-each one would have to absorb 1/100th PART OF THE WHOLE COST.
If there were 1000 SUBSCRIBERS-each one would have to absorb 1/1000th PART OF THE WHOLE COST.
From which it is obvious that the GREATER the number of subscribers -the LESSER the cost to each.
And
It is also obvious that the LESSER the number of subscribers-the GREATER the cost to each.
Every time you loan your City Directory the LESS NECESSITY THERE IS FOR THE BORROWER TO SUBSCRIBE FOR THE SERVICE.
MORE BORROWERS result in FEWER SUBSCRIBERS which means IN- CREASED COST.
THE PUBLISHERS

H
TRADE! You like
to patronize those concerns who are in business to stay.
It's human to expect that such busi- ness establishments always stand back of the wares they sell.
The advertising in this Directory is suggestive of the stability and per- manency of the advertisers.
Frauds, fakes, get-rich-quicks and other schemers have little use for directory advertising. It lives too long.
The modern City Directory is a business institution. It occupies a place peculiarly its own. It is as necessary to the progress and de- velopment of a city generally as anything naturally would be which deals with such a fundamental as the citizens themselves.
If you are not advertising your busi- ness in the Directory, may we ex- plain how and why it will pay you?
