ATLANTA CITY DIRECTORY-1918

THE ATLANTA

CITY DIRECTORY

DON'T put your Directory in an out-of-the-way place, but keep it in a place that your customers can see and use it without stopping some ONE to find it.

DON'T think that a Directory is paying for itself unless you use it, any more than an idle clerk can make you money.

DON'T look mad when a customer asks to look at your Directory.

DON'T look happy when a neighbor wants to borrow your Directory, for if you do, he will borrow again and if all were borrowers, when would the next Direct be published?

DON'T forget that an up- to-date City must have a Directory, and a merchant t has no Directory is what?

DON'T forget that a Directory borrower today will forget to return it tomorro and you call him what? IT

DON'T forget that the man who has a Directory pays for it and the borrower ge for nothing what another man pays for. What do you call him?

Mr. Business Man! n-

THIS DIRECTORY IS ISSUED ANNUALLY No other medium in the world gives the information contained herein, therefore it is CONSULTED DAILY FOR TWELVE MONTHS until a new edition is issued.

"TO-DAY IS SHORT, YESTERDAY IS GONE, TO-MORROW MAY NEVER COME, IF YOU'VE GOT ANYTING TO DO --- 'GET BUSY '"

Robinson Crusoe

Had Not Advertised,

He would very probably have died on the island.

He was one of the very earliest successful advertisers; in spite of the fact that his possible audience was exceedingly small, and his choice of mediums and copy unus- ually limited.

He however recognized two great fundamental advertising principles. Keeping everlastingly at it, and us- ing the best copy obtainable for the intended audience.

The observance of these rules backed by goods and service will spell "Success."

The Atlanta City Directory inherently furnishes the first es- sential, "Keeping everlastingly at it," it is "on the job" every minute of every day of every year, talking to the best audience obtainable. We will help you furnish the second requisite, if you wish, "copy" that will attract the attention of all money spenders of Atlanta.

Two cents a year pays for a whole page advertisement in one copy of the Atlanta City Directory.

Phone for our man, Main 1653. It might be to our mutual benefit to meet.

INTRODUCTION

The volume herewith presented embodics the 41st issue of the ATLANTA CITY DIRECTORY It will be found upon examination and use, to be a complete and comprehensive epitone of the social, commercial, indus- trial and professional interests of the municipality.

In the present volume all the local features which have proven so ac- ceptable and satisfactory to our patrons in the past have been retained and new ones added as suggested by experience. The change in the style and make-up of the book, including the lengthening of the printed page will be appreciated by the public as marking a step in advance in the department of typography as applied to Directory making.

As in former years the canvass for names did not stop at the city limits proper, but embraced all contiguous suburban territory including the villages of College Park, Center Hill, East Lake, East Point, Kirkwood, Lakewood, Lakewood Heights, Inman Yards, Egan and Hapeville. These villages are to all intents and purposes an integral part of the city proper, as those resi- dent therein have their business or employment in Atlanta,

In the General Index following this Introduction, is shown the number of page upon which any desired information can be found.
