Overview of Gwinnett County Records

Gwinnett County was created in 1818 from Cherokee and Creek Indian Lands.
Copies of birth and death certificates from 1919 and later can be obtained from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
The Gwinnett County courthouse burned in 1871 and few records were saved.
The Gwinnett County Superior Court has divorce records, court records starting in 1858, and land records starting in 1871.
