1806 that Robt. Rafferty, son of Malcom Rafferty late of Wilkes Co., but now of Ky., came to his house from Augusta Feb. 25th. last, and I left him there when I returned Mar. 2, I found him fighting fire to prevent our plantations from burning. So he could not be guilty of murdering a Mr. Barclay in Wilkes Co., about Mar. 1, last, accord- ing to a report to that effect. Will McGough, John Patterson, Robt.
