"THE RETREAT" Established in 1905. Capacity 60 Beds.

"THE RETREAT" is a private sanitarium for neuropathic, psychopathic and other infirm persons. It is a home-like villa. Besides a stately brick mansion, there are eight frame cottages, occupied by patients, employees and officers. The grounds include 40 acres of beautiful natural timber, together with orchard, vineyard, a vegetable and a flower garden. A herd of excellent cows furnish an abundance of milk. The equipment is ample and up to date. Both sexes are treated; 2,300 patients thus far. On an average patients remain two months. The treatment consists in rest, baths, massage, electricity, medicine, outdoor life, and suitable, well-trained nurses for companions.
