Overview of Franklin County Records

Franklin County was created in 1818 from White and Gallatin counties.
Copies of birth and death certificates for 1916 and later can be obtained from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The Franklin County courthouse had a fire in 1843 that burned the records.
The Franklin County Clerk has death records starting from 1877 to 1916, birth records from 1877 to 1916, marriage records from 1836, and land records from 1835.
