Bachelor Creek Christian Church
Joseph Carver and Silas Stone resigned their deaconship the first Lord's Day in Jan. 1363. There was a motion made by brother Elinar Lasselle and others that the Church pro- ceed to Select Elders and Deacons for this Church according- ly. Bros. Ezelial Bos Send, Levi L. Cox, L. Shortridge, and John S.B. Carothers were chosen Elders On this Occasion Father Hubbard the only Eld. previous to that time proceeded to make some scurrillous remarks upon the qualifications of Br. L. Shortridge intending to prejudice the brethren against him as afterward appeared upon trial of the case. There be- ing about 70 members present, 66 of whom voted for L. Short- ridge (youths at least some not rising) he was elected de- clared . elected.
The Church then proceeded to choose Deacons. Upon motion the following brethren were chosen Joseph Cox, Elizur Lassa- lle, Peter Garien, Bro. Lasselle was made Treasurer. Bro. Shortridge was elected by the Elders as Clerk of their pro- ceedings and of the congregation in all matters of record.
On the following Tuesday evening the Church met for the purpose of harmonizing all the discordant element, if possi- ble, and come into clear fellowship. Whereupon Brother Shortridge and Father Hubbard had some private conversation and it was found impossible for them to settle the difficul- ty started by Father Hubbard the previous Lord's Day, in the charges and statements he made against Bro. S. & the previ- ous unity of the church.
Bro. Shortridge then proceeded to lay the whole case be- for the Elders present. L.L. Cox, J.S.B. Crothers and Egekial Cox, who having been advised in all the premises Decided that Father Hubbard was guilty of misrepresentation and falsehood, recommended the brethren bo withdraw from him which the church did by a vote of 27 to 11. Many not voting at all.
We generally felt sorry for Father Hubbard on the account of his age and former general respectability and on the recom- mendation of L. Shortridge to and through Bro. Winfield, on the 15th of February the church proceeded to restore Bro. Sam- uel Hubbard to membership without the office of Eld. Father Hubbard having previously made some acknowledgements.
May the Lord help us all to live in and cultivate peace. Lemuel Shortridge, Clerk
P.S. A copy of the proceedings of the Elders is preserved with this record.
We the undersigned after having the matters investigated on the night of the 31st of Dec. 1362 find that Bro. Samuel Hubbard guilty of the following charges.
Ist. Of making public statements two weeks ago last Lord's Day of a private conversation had between himself and brother L. Shortridge without his, (Brother Shortridge) consent.
-13-
Bachelor Creck Christian Church
2nd. Of making statements last Lord's Day of a wicked and malicious character aiming to prejudice the brethren against brother Shortridse (L) without-His in stating that the Church was in peace and quietude up to last August 1362 when Bro. Shortridge came here and Stirred up strife and ano- misity in the Church.
3rd. Of misrepresentation, prevarication and falsehood in making the statements above named. In view of these facts we believe him to be guilty, unworthy of the Fellowship of the Church of Christ.
We therefore recommend the Congregation to withdraw their fellowship from him. This Jan. 20 1363.
This they did by a vote of 27 to 11. 1576625 Ezekial Cox Sen. John S.B. Carothers Levi L. Cox

Copy Pr. L. Shortridge, Clerk.
Oct. 1/62 L. Shortridge was employed by this congregation to preach a fourth of the time. That is the 4th Saturday and Lord's Day of each month. Pursuant to the above arrangement his ser- vices commenced on Saturday evening before the 1st Sunday in Oct. 1362. Three discourses were preached at that time also the 2nd Lord's Day in Oct. 2 discourses.
First Sunday in February after reading the scriptures and exhortation by Bros Shortridge and the communion. Report of progress was made. A favorable was made in favor of Bro. Lewis Quick and Wife, William Carr and wife and Father Palmer and family. It was further agreed that in order that justice be done and that the good and harmony of the Church be promoted and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that we withdraw the hand of fellowship from Father Hubbard and his wife and also his daughter Elizabeth Cline. Samuel Hubbard at his own re- quest. Bro Adam Graves and wife also Bro Wm. Stone. These seven persons were this day formally excluded for the neglect of the Church also for disorderly conduct, also for refusing to walk with the Church thereby rendering it essential to good order and the prosperity Zion that they be excluded.

HANNA CEMETERY? WABASH.
P . D. Aug/2/07-3-1. ?
Wabash, after seventy-two years, succeeded in securing a deed to the Hanna Cemetery, which contained one and a half acres.
A Quit Claim Deed was given by the following heirs:
Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Hanna, Mr. & Mrs. James Warren Hanna, Chicago. Mr. & Mrs. Alexander L. Tyre, & Mrs. James D. Conner, Mr. & Mrs. H. H. Conner, Mr. & Mrs. James D. Conner, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. O. W. Conner, Mrs. Ada C. Miles, Kiss Rosalind Conner.
There were probably more than five hundred burials in the cemetery. Because no deel had aver been given for the cemetery the city could not move the bodies to a new location where the graves would be cared for.
After the deed was signed Mayor Murphy with sovelar helpers spent an entire Sunday at the cemetery recording the names and dates that were recorded on the stones that remained. Dome of the markers had fallen and were entirely overgrown with grass and weeds. Nany were croten past all deciphering and many graves had no markers at all. The two hundred fifty-six names they secured were only a part of them. It is said that many workers on the Tabash Valley Railroad, who died during a cholera epidemic, were burind there in the fifties.
