PREFACE.

The seventh volume of our Fort Wayne and Allen County Directory, herewith presented, has, throughout the canvass, compilation and print- ing, been watched with the utmost care, in order that the work might truly represent the population of the city and county, and be an honest reflex of the manufacturing, mercantile, professional and agricultural interests of one of the most influential and important cities and coun- ties of Indiana.

That portion of the book devoted to Allen county has been arranged after the most approved manner of compiling county directories. It is believed that the volume contains the name, business and postoffice address of every adult resident of the county.

The city directory proper contains 12,913 names, against 12,000 in our last edition.

For various favors in the form of subscriptions and advertisements, our thanks are extended to the business meu of Fort Wayne.
