HOW TO SOUND AN ALARM.
Open the door of the box with the key when you want to turn on alarm. By pulling down the hook once and letting go gives the general alarm at the waterworks and hose houses in the city.
HOW THE WATERWORKS WHISTLE WILL SOUND THE ALARM.
For a general alarm one long whistle; then after thirty seconds intermission the whistle will blow short blasts to indicate number of box from which alarm is turned in, as follows:
