WE herewith present to the public our eighteenth volume of the New Albany and Jeffersonville City Directory. The publishers wish to thank the citizens for their support and confidence, and trust- this volume will meet with their approval. .

New Albany and Jeffersonville are both in a prosperous and healthy condition, although the figures for Jeffersonville do not indicate it.' The New Albany Directory contains 13,127 names, an increase of 194 names over 1907. This woukl indicate a population of 26,254.

The Jeffersonville Directory contains 7,331 names, a.falling off of 1,153 names since our last publication. This decrease is due entirely to the small number of men employed at the present time by the American Car and Foundry Company. These works are among the largest in Southern In-

. diana. When running at their full capacity they employ about 2,000 men. The present population of Jeffersonville is estimated to be 14,662. CARON DIRECTORY COMPANY. . : June, 1909.
