Introductory
THE nineteenth bi-ennial Directory of the Cities of New Albany and Jeffersonville is herewith presented to the public.
The New Albany Directory contains 43,417 individual names, an increase over the 1909 Directory of 290 names. Using two as a mul- tiplier, New Albany, including Silver Grove, Silver Hills and Lower Albany, has a population of 26,834.
The Jeffersonville Directory, which embraces also Port Fulton. Ohio Falls, Clarkesville, Howard Park and Claysburg contains 7,914 individual names, an increase over the 1909 book of 583 names and would indicate a population of 15,828.
New Albany and Jeffersonville are both prosperous and cach have a number of splendid manufacturing plants.
.1
The "American Automobile Manufacturing Company, a quarter of a million dollar corporation, composed principally of Louisville capitalists. selected New Albany as a site for their plant on account of the low tax rate and its splendid shipping facilities.
Through the efforts of the Louisville and Southern Indiana Traction Company New Albany and Jeffersonville are developing a number of attractive subdivisions on the North Side, which will make delightful homes and will be of easy access to the citizens of the three Falls Cities.
