INTRODUCTORY

917.7286 1.83

1961-1902

WE present this, the sixth volume of the Logansport and Cass County Directory, with the belief that experience and scrupulous care have placed it beyond the preceding numbers, in both com- prehensiveness and accuracy. The canvass and compilation from beginning to end has been under careful and expert management, and we feel that we can claim as a result of our careful work- manship and heavy expense, a book as nearly perfect as is possi- ble with a statistical publication.

In this introductory we wish to state to our subscribers that we are not in any manner identified with any other directory pub- lisher. Our Directory Department, under which this book is issued, has become a distinct branch of our business, and the manage- ment of the canvass at Logansport, as well as the other cities in our circuit of regular directory publications, is conducted under our personal supervision.

Copies of this Directory will find a place in the Directory Libraries of publishers throughout the East and Middle West, and knowing this, we have spared no expense in making the book not only a conservative but an accurate representative of Logansport's commercial possibilities.

POPULATION

Omitting all firms, companies, names of wives and classified repetitions, this Directory contains 9,217 individual names. Using the conservative publishers' multiple of 216 to each name, we esti- mate the population of Logansport and suburbs at 23,043, a legit- imate increase of 1,643 over the issue of 1899-1900.

In conclusion, we beg to thank our many subscribers for their kindness, and hope that the book will merit their extensive pat- ronage.
