STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE
The Notations of Locations
Main street is the dividing line north and south. the Whitewater river east and west Even numbers will be found on the north and west side of the streets, odd numbers on the south and east side
Richmond is numbered on the Philadelphia plan, which is the most approved of modern conveniences for the notation of locations Each block, by this system. constitutes an hundred numbers Thus the n e cor of 9th st would be numbered 900, and the doors going east 902. 904. etc. until the intersection of 10th st be reached: then, in like manner, from the east side of 10th st the numbers would be 1000. 1002, 1004, etc. to 11th st By this means, with any given num- ber, we can tell just how many blocks that number can be found from the initial of enumeration
