TO THE PUBLIC.
Our second edition of the Indianapolis City Directory is herewith pre- sented to the public.
As we have had the advantage of two distinct and separate canvasses of the city, which were diligently compared together, we feel confident that it will be found reliable in an unusual degree.
We respectfully call attention to the statistics of our city, which, it will be observed, form a new and highly interesting feature. On page 287 will be found a business summary, showing the number of citizens engaged in each separate branch of trade, and in the various professions.
To those gentlemen who have kindly furnished us with information relating to the various societies, institutions, &c., we tender many thanks.
To all who have had the kindness and good sense to advertise in the Indianapolis Directory, we would say: may you soon have to extend the dimensions of your store-houses and incur the expense of employing additional clerks to wait upon your thronging customers.
We have to congratulate our advertising patrons upon the favora- ble circumstances which gives them the benefit of the circulation of both editions. Our friends have done nobly by us. "As ye have sown, so may ye reap."
Respectfully,. SUTHERLAND & MCEVOY.
