COURTS


There are nine Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, and there are nine Judicial Circuits in the United States. One of the Justices is assigned to each Circuit. In each Judicial Circuit there is a Circuit Court of Appeals, and from three to five Circuit Judges in each Circuit, who sit as a Circuit Court of Appeals; and, if necessary, the presiding Judge may have one or more District Judges sit in the Circuit Court of Appeals. There are from one to four Judi- cial Districts in each State, in each of which there is a District Court, which is held by the District Judge for the District in which he is appointed. Indiana con- stitutes a single Judicial District.
