The Indiana Conference was organized in 1832. heing set off from the Ill- inois Conference by the General Conferance of that year.


In 1844 the Conference was divided into Indiana and North Indiana Con- ference, by the National Road, which runs through the center of the State from east to west. In 1852. the State was divided into four conferences. called Indiana. South Indiana. North Indiana, and Northwest Indiana .. October 16-21, 1844. the North Indiana Conference held its first session at Fort Wayne. Bishop Waugh presided.
