Some unscrupulous individuals, calling them- selves directory publishers, resort to tricky practices to sell listings in so-called directories. They solicit listings of business firms over the telephone in such a manner as to confuse and deceive business executives and cause them to authorize listings, believing they are being tele- phoned by a well-known directory company.

The appearance of this Public Service Message in these columns is evidence that this publication subscribes whole- heartedly to the principles of the Better Business Bureau, and co-operates with the Bu- reau in protecting you-even to the extent of refusing to accept the advertising of firms whose advertising and sales policies are proved to be contrary to public interest.

Out-of-town directory publishers solicit busi- ness houses here to fill out and sign an innocent looking blank form calling for information about their company.
