Our Life Company was born, and its whole existence has been in adverse and unsettled times, yet in slightly over 13 years, it has made a record that has been equalled in only a few in- stances in the whole history of American life insurance. In 1929, State Farm Life started at the bottom of the list of 389 legal reserve companies in the United States. By the end of 1941, State Farm Life had climbed to 85th place for insurance in force, and for the year 1941, stood in 72nd place for insur- ance written, and 53rd place for insurance gained. When comparable information is available for the end of 1942, an even better ranking will be disclosed.

We enter upon 1943, after a successful 1942. Insurance in force on December 31, 1942, was $102,635,698. The assets of the Life Company increased almost $1,500,000 and now total $7,527,244.24. The surplus to policyholders now stands at $1,044,302.49, an increase of almost $175,000. Our financial position is most satisfactory, so good, in fact, that it needs no further comment.
