While this Veterans Day honors men and women who. served in the defense of their country, there is special mention of a veteran from America's first war:

Woods was born in 1760 He was wounded.onAug./2; 1779; and was discharged on: Sept. 15, -1782. Information from the Pennsylvania Archives indicates that Woods was wounded in the. wrist and transferred to the Invalid . Corps before being discharged. He. was a member of . the 4th Pennsylvania Regiment and served under the command of Capt. : William Henderson and Col. William Butler.

Old Towne Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met at Harvey's Restaurant Nov. 12.
Regent Wilma Morphet presided over the meeting. The President General's Message was read by Helen Ulfers. .
Marjorie Bridge reported that Good Citizens winners will be honored at the December meeting. Mary Felker and Patricia Phillips will assist in judging the essays.
: Pauline Babb, registrar, reported that Grace Kesser has been accepted by NSDAR. She was welcomed as a new member of Olde ¿Towne chapter. Mrs. Babb'also reported on the re-dedication of " the statue of Madonna of the Trail, which was the old Santa Fe Trail stretching from coast-to-coast. :

York was taken prisoner by tivity for some time, but sub- sequently was exchanged or made his escape and returned to service until the end of the war, when he received an honor- able discharge. Among the bat- tles in which he participated was the Battle of Brandywine. SOON AFTER the close of the war, York moved to War- ren county, Ga., where he re- sided about 22 years. He then moved to Preble county, Ohio, where he resided until 1835. He came to Cass county about four years before his death.
