JOHNNIE. By E. O. Laughlin.
The wonderfully simple yet wonderfully involved story of this onderfully unremarkable boy is told with tender beauty, exqui- te humor and dignified pathos. The temptation to quote and ote from the book is great, but it must suffice to say that it is ceeding good, aye, even that it ought not to be missed. Per- ps the young reader will find it so presently true that he will lay iaside for something more strange and foreign, but the reader in nom the world's rough hand has impressed the longing-born chviction that "the Lotus-land the poet sung, it is the Child- World while the heart beats young," this reader will not lay John- n down without thankfulness that it has been written; Pub- lned by The Bowen-Merrill Company, Indianapolis .- Clara E. hughlin in The Interior.
