The M. F, M, Meeting meet /M / ch 1890. at Sarah Baldwins with 5 members and I visitar present, the President being absent the meeting was opened by the Decstary reading the 25 th bchapter of. Isiah, and prayer" offered by Narcisa Nixon, Adaline Wright read a peine entitled Indiana Society, stating that there was. 738 members enrolled in our auxiliares of Foreign mission Association, and 1800, children. 8 youths in Juvenil society's, the recipes for theme ending 9/ 1890 From all sources exclusive of balance on harld from last yr are $/2, 215 , of which 5,80, mas given expressly for the building fund, Sarah Baldwin read a very good pier entitled a Brahmins testimony, the peres stated that it was the Bible that caused the man to
go to these poor people as a missionary, this poor Brahmin belewed the good news, for the saw what prompted the Mussonay to forsake his home and friends it all and that it was not forced upon him as the Mohammedans do, but it was. presented in love , Alles & Phimmar then read a peter enlisted much rum and little missona, A scotchous said to have sent a cargo of run to Office many yrs ago and being a good man he kindly gave passage to a mismay on the same
District Missionary Convention. The Warsaw District Missionary Con- vention of the M. E. church, held at North Manchester Monday and Tuesday, June 6th and 7th, Was a very successful affair. About twenty of the pastors of the dis- trict, and a goodly number of other active workera of the church, both ladies and gentlemen, were present to participate in the exercises and add enthusiasm to the occasion. The graat attraction, of course, was the presence throughout of Chaplain McCabe to electrify the convention with hia earnest addresses and songs of the heart. The people of North Manchester and vicinity turned out en masse, the house being packed st the first meeting on Monday evening. The Chaplain was in his best mood, and his address was im- mense. On Tuesday morning Rev. A. E. Mahin dalivered an eloquent address on the topic, "Every Disciple of Christ & Missionary ;" Rav. J. W. Cain read a well prepared paper on the "Need," and Rev. J. W. Work earnestly discussed the "Re. sponsibility of the Work." Chaplain Mc- Cabe suggested many happy things in "How to Effect the Reaults." In the ! afternoon the question, "How to Interest the Children," was carefully considered by Rev. M. Swadener, Mrs. Geo. Hill and Brothers Mahin and McCabe. M. H. Mott read a paper on the "Present of the Heroism of Mission," and their methods of taking the annual collections were ex- plained by J. J. McCoy, W. S. Boston, J. K. Walts and A. Cona. The Chaplain'a review of the afternoon topics was full of the most telling points, and the most en- thusiastic speach of the convention. His idea of getting 300,000 persons to pledge themselves to give not less than a penny 8 day was heartily indorsed, and the Chap- lain was requested to prepare auitable cards and send 1,000 to be distributed in the Warsaw district. After another mag. nificent address by Mr. McCabe, on Tuas- day evening, the annual collection for the North Manchester charge was taken, ag- gregating $235, or nearly $100 more than their assessment. The "penny & day" idea was very popular. If every member of the M. E. church would give as much it would amount to $7,000,000 instead of $1,000,000 every year.
