DIRECTIONS .- In the day column, on the right or left, find the given number of days. On the same line, where it intersects the column headed with the given rate per month, is the required amount. When the number of days or rate is not in the Table, find for any two numbers which will together make the required number. This Table will also be found beneficial in reckoning board by the month or day, as well as other matter useful to farmers, mechanics, and business men in general.

Farmers, in building granaries, by giving a little attention to the foregoing table, can always know the exact capacity of every box or bin.

For heaped bushels (as apples, potatoes, &c.,) multiply the number of cubic feet in the bin by eight, and the product by eight again, and point off two decimals. For example, a bin 4 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 5 feet deep contains 120 cubic feet, which, multiplied by 8, makes 960 ; multiply by 8 again, makes 7,680; point off the two right-hand figures for decimals, leaves 761 bushels.

Another mode for measuring corn in the ear:

Level the corn in the crib, then measure the length, breadth, and depth, and multiply them together, and deduct from the product one-fifth, and you have the number of bushels.

For shelled corn take one-half of this, and add half a bushel for every one hundred bushels.

Another rule for measuring corn :

Measure the length, breadth, and depth of the crib in feet, and mul- tiply them together and the product by eight, then cut off the two figures on the right. Those on the left will be so many barrels, and those on the right so many hundredths of a barrel ; or multiply the number of barrels by five, and you have the number of bushels.

A rule for measuring unshucked corn :

Multiply the length, breadth, and depth, together in feet, and the pro- duct by 53, and cut off two figures on the right, and the figures on the Buy Boots and Shoes of W. T. STONE, No. S Second Street, St. Joseph, Missouri.

left will be the number of barrels, and those on the right will be hundredths of a barrel.

Another rule to measure shucked corn :

Take the dimensions in inches, multiply them together, take one-half of the product and then divide by 2,150, and you have the bushels of shelled corn.
