REPORT OF THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
The people of the town have reason to be gratified with the degree of prosperity that attends the working of the Town Libra- ry. It has been the purpose of the committee to place upon the shelves, as far as their means have allowed, the best works in the different departments of literature. Their efforts have met with a ready response from the community, in the many calls for good reading. The interest in the Library on the part of its patrons has been maintained, and what was of the nature of an experi- ment when the enterprise was started, has now become a necessity of our social and educational life. We could not well do without it.
The Library has nearly outgrown the quarters it has occupied for some years, and this fact makes it necessary that in the near future enlarged facilities be provided.
Whole number, 4385.
5454 books have been issued to 153 different families.
