INTRODUCTORY.

Again it becomes our agreeable duty to submit to the public the BROOKLINE DIRECTORY for 1894, being No. 15 of the REGULAR series. The book presents its familiar appearance, and as we have endeavored to compile a Directory wholly satisfactory to our patrons and of value and importance to the community, we trust that whatever slight imperfections it may contain will be kindly overlooked, in the hope of future perfection. The changes in Brookline have been quite numerous during the past year, and all should procure a copy of this Directory in order to keep pace with current events. We have increased our efforts to insure the accuracy and reliability of the Directory, in order to maintain the high standard of excellence we have set for this publication, although we have been confronted with unexpected obstacles this year; and we shall constantly endeavor, regardless of trouble and · expense, or other causes, to maintain that standard and to furnish Brookline with a Directory, which none but Directory Publishers CAN do, commensurate with its prominence and importance ; and we hope for a more liberal advertising patronage in order that we may be successful in our efforts.

We are aware that another so-called "directory" of Brookline is proposed by parties who have had NO experience whatever in this line of business, and while we. believe that this opposition is wholly uncalled-for and gratuitous, as we have published the ONLY and ORIGINAL BROOKLINE DIRECTORY for the past twenty-five years, constantly striving to give complete satisfaction, and we shall continue to do so, regardless of all jealous and malicious oppo- sition.
