Thousands of your potential customers are visiting the City Directory Libraries of the United States and Canada every month seeking sources of supply and other information. These library locations are advertised and pub- licized consistently and contin- ually. These libraries are main- tained by the Association of North American Directory Pub- lishers through the courtesy of the members who keep them supplied with City Directories as part of their service to the public. Is your product or serv- ice properly registered in these

libraries so that those looking may readily obtain the informa- tion desired? This library sys- tem is a sound economic feature that brings your product or service within the reach of millions at a cost to you that is surprisingly low in comparison with proven results. A folder, descriptive of this huge system of City Directory Libraries, to- gether with a privilege card en- titling you to the benefits of free usage, is yours for the asking, on your business letterhead. LOWELL DIRECTORY

Centennial Edition

For the year ending February, 1937 Containing

Alphabetical Section (Page 197) Gives names, occupations and addresses of men and women eighteen years old or over, also all business houses. Wives' names are listed immediately after that of the husbands; enclosed in parentheses. The names of partners in firms are given after the name of the firm. Dates of deaths during the previous year are given and, where possible, the addresses of people who have moved to other cities. Much other information is given that cannot be found else- where.

Business Directory (Page 869) All business houses, individuals in business for themselves, and professional men are listed without charge under the heading that best describes them. The more progressive houses, realizing that it pays to be easily found, pay a nominal charge for special listings in heavy type, under every heading where a buyer might look for them, cross-indexed to a descriptive space in the "reference section."

House and Home Owners Directory (Page 681) All Householders and Places of Business are arranged in numerical order upon their respective Streets. The Streets are arranged in alphabetical order.

A VALUABLE FEATURE: HOMES OWNED BY OCCUPANTS INDICATED BY SYMBOL

O

(Note: this information is as given to our convassers, and is not guaranteed by us. It should be of value as an indication, but not taken as legal proof of title.)

Advertising Department (Page 81) Where more information than is possible to give under the headings is placed on file for buyer's reference. The value of this department cannot be estimated. It is an index of the best business interests of the city, and stands for them and the city in reference libraries all over the country, as well as on the desks of progressive business men. It is accessible to everybody, and the logical place to look for specific information. This probably explains why no other form of publicity is so generally endorsed by business men, as a glance at this department will show.

Honor Roll (Opp Page 10) A special feature-is a list of Business Concerns who are advertisers in this edition, who have been in business twenty-five years or more.

Street Directory (Page 33) A complete list of Streets, showing location of inter- secting streets, and enabling one to tell at once between what streets a given num- ber lies, and the quickest way to get there.

Map (Opposite) The clearest map ever made of the city, on a scale large enough to see and small enough to be handled easily.

Miscellaneous Information (Page 11) Organization of City Departments, giving officers-Post Office branches-Parcel Post zones and rates-Courts-Population tables-Calendar, etc.

COMPILING DEPARTMENT

The City Directory has become a universal necessity in looking up new prospects, in purchasing supplies, and in market- ing products. Our experience of over eighty-five years-our reputation for accuracy, our large force of experienced help and our complete equipment for the work, all guarantee the best in directory compilation.

ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT

Put-"We are listed in the Directory" in all your adver- tising copy. Addresses are often forgotten or mislaid, though the name is remembered. The firm that is properly registered in all branches of its industry is wise. Don't forget that direc- tory advertising supplements and rounds out all your other advertising by giving the most explicit directions how to find you.

Ask Sampson & Murdock Company about the City Directory, the book of many uses.
