EXPLANATIONS
This book is divided into five parts, viz:
PART I Contains the gravestone inscriptions to the year 1932, and lists all individuals buried in Otis who are named on these stones.
PART II Contains new nomes found on the stones in October 1933.
PART III Contains all names mentioned on the stones as parents of children or husbands of the deceased, but not mentioned as buried here.
PART IV Contains all the gravestones listed by rows.
PART V Contains diagrams and photographs, all original, by Walter E. Corbin.
The numbers at the right hand side of each page refer to the cemetery, row and number of stone in the row, Cemetery Stone No. Row NO. thus: IV 6 - 17
Each name underlined in red denotes a gravestone with its entire inscription.
The names underlined in black are the additional names when more than one appears on the stone.
Wives' names are given in parenthesis after the husband's.
Each married woman is listed under her maiden name, if known, as well as under her married name.
The kind of stone, if other than marble or granite , is mentioned, and also the condition, if poor.
Metal markers of various organizations and flags have been noted. GAR markers are used, if any, at practically all soldiers' graves except World War soldiers. In the older cemeteries flags only are used without markers.
Items in parenthesis are explanations that have been added by the compiler.
A list of the cemeteries as numbered, and a list of the family nomes in the combined cemeteries will be found at the beginning of the book.
