PLYMOUTH COUNTY MARRIAGES

1692-1746

LITERALLY TRANSCRIBED FROM THE FIRST VOLUME OF THE RECORDS OF THE INFERIOR COURT OF COMMON PLEAS, AND FROM AN UNNUMBERED VOLUME AND VOLUME ONE OF THE RECORDS OF THE COURT OF GENERAL SESSIONS OF THE PEACE, PLYMOUTH COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS

REPRINTED FROM VOLUMES ONE AND TWO OF " THE GENEALOGICAL ADVERTISER " 1898-1899

PRESS OF T. R. MARVIN & SON, BOSTON.

NOTE.

1173273

The publication of Plymouth County Marriages was begun in THE GENEALOGICAL ADVERTISER in March, 1898, and the sheets of this pamphlet were reprinted from that magazine from time to time as the several installments appeared. It was the intention of the publisher to issue an indexed volume of these marriages as soon as their publication in the magazine was completed. The fact that these records were being printed was generally known, and has been widely advertised during the past three years. Rev. Frederic W. Bailey, B. D., " Member New England Genealogical and Biographical Society," has recently forestalled the balance of this intended work by publishing abstracts of the larger part of the Plymouth County Marriages, as the second volume of his Early Massachusetts Mar- riages. One volume of the Court Records at Plymouth, however, seems to have escaped his notice. It is an unnumbered volume of the Records of the Court of General Sessions of the Peace, and contains records of marriages for the years 1723 to 1737, none of which are found in Mr. Bailey's volume.

The purpose of issuing this pamphlet now is to supply such of Mr. Bailey's subscribers, as do not have a set of THE GENEALOGICAL ADVERTISER, with that portion of the Plymouth County Marriages contained in the unnumbered volume but not printed in his book. These occupy pages three to nineteen of this pamphlet. As this is intended for a supplement to his work, it is not thought necessary to index it. Scanning the pages for the name wanted is only a step beyond scanning the pages of an index in which the arrangement of names seems to have been determined by chance, Trask being the first name found under its initial and Thurston the last.
