PART I.

Containing data on deaths and burials having no gravestone records.

In the earlier part of this book, the entries are all in one neat, even handwriting, clearly indicating that these items have been copied from some previously kept records, now not in existence, so far as we have been able to find. This may explain some errors in spelling, like Moonefor Moore, Sileme for Silence, Amhust for Amherst, Bezakel for Bezaleel, etc, and possibly some errors in dates.

Practically every entry in the records gives the location of that particular grave in the cemetery, the only exceptions being those marked thus o There is little doubt, however, that those so marked are buried in this town. The location of the grave is given, only when it contains data of genealog- ical value, Many are buried a stated distance and direction from a tree, the hearse-house, the grave of some prominent person, or other mark.

Several burials are mentioned as being made in the "North Yard. " They are starred thus *. Some of these are known to be, and all are thought to be buried in a small cemetery in South Warren, only a few feet across the Brimfield line into Warren.

All data not in parenthesis is in the record book. The wording may not be identical, but the meaning was carefully retained. Unusual bits are sometimed quoted verbatim. Items in parenthesis are explanatory.
