The Position of Sunday of the Inhabitants of Brimfield, Subscribers Lecuento, Host humbly Shewith That whereas in the year seventeen hundred and one Brimfield was granted for a Township whom certain Conditions particularly set forth in the General Court's Resolve, and for the admitting of Inhabitants granting Allattamento, distributing or proportioning of fund there, and ordering all the Prudential Affairs of the Place, Boll. John Pynchon and five other Bent " were fully Imporveredas. . a Committe by the said bout to manage, order and Determine all that is needful to stating and settling the place for five or six years , on according, as the Court should see cause to order, provided iamany other things that they grant to no one Person that may have The Greatest Instate more than one hundred and twenty acres of all sorts of Lando ; And whereas through the distress of war the laid Sommitte could not possibly settle the Place advanced in such manus and time as was appoindech, therefore in heavy zeventien hundred and nine , at the petition of several concerned in said. Track of Lands the General Court was pleased to Tenlage the Time granted to the Committee for the business afourand four years after the conclusion of the then was with France and Spain so also the same term was allowed to the rantes to Comply with the Conditions of their brands and Major John- Fyrahon added to the Committee in the room of his deceased Father and whereas before the Expiration of said turn the said Commette according to the Power given them Framtids to Your Petitionas severally a lot of one hundred and twenty, acus which Lotto your Petitionio have improved according, & he Conditions of thevr Bank of building, theron, actually, Dwelling there and praying, all such rates and changes as have beim laid on them for sething, the place afourand where . when your Petitionis Concluded that by force of the Grant
which of said Committee and their Performance of the le auditions wspom. Huy received them . Huy had an absolute right- in and to thisis. several Lotto adousaid , as can easily be made to appears, But- so it is theal- the Great and General Court at their sessions in June 1723 were pleased to determine and make sold the Power Granted to said Committee, and instead of them. appoint the Moon de John Chandler , and Horny Dwight" Tang . and Mer Joseph Jennings a committee to carry on and praful Her settlement of said towon agreeable to the General Court's Intent in making Brimfield a Township , who made report of their doings to the General Court at their sessions in Cambridge Last-oftimber, wherein are many things Justly lexceptionable and may be easily pointed out when necessary; But your Petitioners more particular Grievance ( in case this Report be accepted by your Excellency and Honours ) is that all of them will Loose part of their Original Brants which they have Actually Improved. as before mentioned, some of them one Third , some two thirds , and others almos " How fourths : and this without any provision made for a recommence. Dedinero sensore against the Acceptance thereof at least so far as related to their Inconveniences, bey have to offer that in their humble opinion the General bout" did not annull the Geto and Grants of the former Committe. but only determine the power of said Committee for the future, nor did the Last- Committee ever receive any Power To vacate on abridge the former Committee Grants, but-their power was only to carry on and perfect the settlement of a Lowon, and it would be the highest reflections on the Justice of this Great and General tout as it is furthest from the thought of your Petitionus to Imagine they shall be deprived of the Lands above mentioned , which they first- received from a Committee of the Government , and that when such turns as they with the Umost- Difficulty Complyed with , being at no small Texpense in Settling Building and Improving and with great hazard of their Lives and Substance, living on and Defending the same , besides the taxes laid one thum 4 this Last le committee amounting to news a Thousand.
