Special attention is directed to the important improvements made in 1875 in my well-known STANDARD CONE FURNACE, including my ANTI-CLINK- ER GRATE, the most important im- provement ever made for removing clinkers and keeping a CONTINUOUS FIRE, also ensuring a large SAVING IN FUEL. It also simplifies and lessens the work of attending the furnace. This celebrated furnace has had no rival since its first introduction, and with the improvement of 1875 it will be more appreciated than ever before. From the day this furnace was intro- duced into the market the demand for it has been constantly increasing, un- til there were about thirty thousand in use before the improvements of 1875 were made. Sizes adapted to all classes of buildings.
This furnace has received two GOLD and several SILVER MEDALS, first premiums, and the only Gold Medal ever awarded to any furnace in Mas- sachusetts. Set either in brick-work or portables in double sheet-iron casings.
With this full line of wrought and cast-iron furnaces, I .am enabled to offer inducements to purchasers of furnaces which cannot fail to give perfect satisfaction both as to quality and price.
Also, my ARLINGTON BRICK SET COOKING RANGE, with all the new and best improvements; this is the most substantial and splendid range ever seen in any kitchen.
Also, COOKING AND PARLOR STOVES, GRATES, etc., etc. Special attention given to putting up Furnaces and Ranges in any part of the country.

RUSSELL
INTRODUCTORY.
THIS is the TWENTY-FIFTH number of the Cambridge Direc- tory, and from a small volume of 112 pages, besides advertise- ments, published in 1848, it has steadily increased each year, until now we present our patrons with a large octavo volume of more than 500 pages, containing over 16,000 names; also a Business Directory, list of Societies, Municipal Officers, and all information desired by citizens or strangers in such a work as this.
We have noted from our last year's Directory 4661 removals, alterations, etc., erased 4,701 names, and have added 4,841 new names. The number in this year's Directory being 16,450 names. This shows (without the Business Directory changes), 9,362 instances where last year's Directory will mislead persons who may refer thereto, besides many changes in societies, cor- porations, etc. This shows that but a little more than one-third of last year's Directory is now of any value.
The amount of labor annually bestowed upon the preparation of this work cannot be appreciated by the uninitiated; some idea, however, may be obtained of rt from the fact that no person's name is inserted unless reprocured by our agents every year. The canvass is commenced the 1st of October, and a large force of canvassers, compilers, proofreaders, printers, etc., con- stantly employed upon it until Jan. 1st, the time for publication; and it is only with a system established by an experience of twenty years that we are enabled to present it in so short a time and in such a satisfactory manner to the public.
