CLEAN OUT

This is the name of a Furnace construeted on an entire new principle, for the purpose of warming dwelling houses, public buildings, halls, hospitals, &e., &e. It differs essentially from other Furnaces, by having an immense radiating surface, and a creative draft.

By the peculiar arrangement of the flues, and the manner of introdueing the supply of air to assist the combustion of the fuel, this furnace is equal- ly well ADAPTED TO THE USE OF ANTHRACITE OR BITUMI- NOUS COAI,, as it consumes the smoke and gas, which in other furnaces escapes into the chimney, and is wasted.

All gentlemen interested in the practical utility of an article of this kind, are most respectfully invited to call and examine for themselves, and be convinced that the enormous waste of fuel can be economized, and be a double source of profit to the master and pleasure to the servant.

N. B. Cooking, Parlor and Office Stoves, of all styles, always on hand.

PREFACE.

THE first DIRECTORY of East Boston was published in 1848; the next number was issued in 1849, and now, at the urgent solicitation of numerous citizens, the third number appears. Our thanks are due to all who have, in any way, cooperated with us in this undertaking ; and we doubt not the work will prove highly creditable as an index of the growth, thrift, and enterprise of this flourishing section of the city. "Particular attention is invited to the well displayed Cards in the work, as well as to the List of Contents below" The number of names in the Directory in 1848, was 1,517; in 1849, 2,072; and in the 2.

present number, about 2,700.
