Warrant for Town Meeting.
WORCESTER, SS.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Douglas, in the County of Worcester,
Greeting :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
You are directed to notify the inhabitants of the town of Doug- las, qualified to vote in election and in Town Affairs, to meet in the Town Hall, in East Douglas in said Douglas, on Monday,the nineteenth day of March current,at nine o'clock, in the forenoon ; then and there to act on the following articles :
Art. 1 .- To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.
Art. 2 .- To choose a Town Clerk, Treasurer, one Selectman for one year, one for two years, and one for three years, one Assessor for one year, one for two years, and one for three years, Town Agent, Six Constables, Tax Collector, Agent and three Appraisers on Devise of Moses Wallis, three Fence and three Bridge Viewers all for one year, also one Overseer of the. Poor for three years, three School Committee for three years, two Trustees of the Public Library for three years, and one Road Commissioner for one year.
Art. 3 .- To choose all other necessary Town Officers, and fill any vacancies that may appear.
Art. 4 .- To vote on the question : "Shall license be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors the ensuing year ?" in this town.
Art. 5 .- To hear the reports of the several Town Officers, and act thereon.

Art. 6 .- To raise by tax and appropriate, such sums of money as may be necessary for the support of the poor, of schools, for repairing school houses, repairing highways and bridges, for paying debts and interest, and contingent expenses the ensuing year.
Art. 7 .- To determine the time when poll and other taxes shall be collected.
Art. 8 .- To see if the town will vote to instruct the Collector of taxes for the year 1900, to collect interest on all taxes not paid at a specified time, and to fix said time and rate of interest, and see if the town will give the Collector of taxes the same authority that a Town Treasurer has when Collector.
Art. 9 .- To see if the town will accept the list of names proposed by the Selectmen to serve as Jurors the ensuing year, or amend the same by adding thereto or taking therefrom.
Art. 10 .- To see if the town will vote to pay the members of the Fire Company, the sum of eight dollars each for their ser- vices the ensuing year, no member to receive said sum until he has served his full year ending April 1, 1901, and all fines to be deducted from said amount and covered into the treasury of the Company.
Art. 11 .- To see what use the town will make of the Dog Fund so called, the ensuing year.
Art. 12 .- To see what number the acting Superintending Committee of Schools shall consist, and what their compensa- tion shall be.
Art. 13 .- To see what compensation the town will allow their Tax Collector the ensuing year for collecting taxes.
Art. 14 .- To choose one or more Auditors in accordance with Section 1. Chap. 221, of the Laws and Resolves of the year 1888.
Art. 15 .- To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to furnish state aid to disabled soldiers and their families, and for any other purpose not included in article 6.
Art. 16 .- To see if the town will authorize the Assessors to abate such taxes as in their judgment, ought to be abated, which were assessed in previous years.
Art. 17 .- To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred dollars to Samuel Siblev Post, G. A. R., for charitable purposes, under provision of Chap. 189, section 1, of the Acts and Resolves of the year 1885.

Art. 18 .- To see what price the town will pay for teams and labor the ensuing year.
Art. 19 .- To hear the report of all outstanding committees and act thereon.
Art. 20 .- To see if the town will vote to authorize the Treas- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the taxes of the present municipal year and payable therefrom.
Art. 21 .- To see if the town will vote to use the license mon- ey if granted, to pay town notes.
Art. 22 .- To see what action the town will take in regard to further repairs at Almshouse.
Art. 23 .- To see what action the town will take in regard to bills of years 1894-96-97 of State Poor which overseers are un- able to collect, whether they shall be stricken off the books or a committee appointed to await upon state as to collection of same.
Art. 24 .- To see if the town will raise and appropriate two hundred dollars for constructing and repairing sidewalks and under whose supervision it shall be expended.
Art. 25 .- To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate five hundred dollars to build a vault in which to keep the Town Records.

Art. 26 .- To see if the town will vote to purchase a stone crusher, engine and road roll for repairing highways and raise and appropriate money for the same.
Art. 27 .- To see if the town will authorize the Selectmen to sell at public auction or otherwise, the school houses now un- occupied, and deed the same to purchasers.
Art. 28 .- To see if the town will vote to foreclose any or all mortgages now in default, or which may become in default, given to this town, or take any action concerning the same or concerning the collection of the amounts due on such mortgages.
Art. 29 .- To see if the town will vote to widen Hammond Avenue from Main Street, its entire length to a uniform width of twenty five feet.
Art. 30 .- To see if the town will vote to revoke the action taken by the town at a previous annual town meeting whereby the town voted to accept Chap. 374 of the Acts and Resolves of the year 1895, and elect one Highway Surveyor.
Art. 31 .- To see if the town will vote to accept the provisions of Chap. 16 of the Acts and Resolves of the year 1894 in regard

to electing Highway Surveyors and vote to elect by ballot 10 Highway Surveyors one for each of the old school districts.
Art. 32 .- To see if the town will vote to place the Town Public Library in one of the buildings owned by the town, or make any other arrangements.
Art. 33-To see if the town will vote to oblige the abuttors on the highway to remove all brush and wood within the limits of the highway.
The polls may close at three o'clock.
And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting up attest- ed copies thereof, at the Post Office in East Douglas, at the Post Office in Douglas Center, and at the School House in South Douglas, ten days at least, before the time for holding said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk at the time and place of meeting aforesaid.
